About

29 years after making my first site, and 11 years after shutting all my sites down, I’ve gotten the itch to put myself out there again. I’ve come back to find the internet a much different place. There’s a new generation of sites that makes me smile, but it’s not a space I can see myself fitting into. And nearly everyone I admired before has moved on; marriage, kids, careers… who has time to make personal websites anymore?

I suppose I do. Hi 🙂 I’m Kris, but if you knew me in my past life, you know me as Zoe.

In my past life, I ran visage.cx, and in its 7 years hosted about 14 incredibly talented people whose sites far outshined my own in terms of their designs and their content. I hosted a message board – didn’t we all? – with about 25 members at its humble peak. Did I appreciate any of it? No. And I’ll regret that forever.

More on that later, on a future “history” page or something.

I’m now 45, and 21 still feels both like yesterday and like a lifetime ago.

Outside my work, I am a caregiver, an artist, a reader, a geek, a Hufflepuff, an empath, a music lover, and a friend of spiders, crows, and pigeons. I collect all things owls and mushrooms. I am happiest when it’s quiet. I save cat whiskers in a vintage perfume bottle. I live in a hundred and twenty year old maisonette and am slowly unrenovating it back to its 60s and 70s glory. The park behind my home and the beach are my places to breathe. Stillness, nature, stars, and the sound of people having a good time give me life.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my husband, 8 cats, and a fish. ♥ I’ve recently moved back to my hometown after spending 13 years just outside Los Angeles (which had become my home, and I miss it dearly ♥)

If you knew me before… I am a much better person now, in a much better place. I find beauty everywhere. I’m the person I’ve always wished I could be. I’ve grown, been knocked down, and grown again. A forest after a fire that grew back greener.

I’d love to connect with old friends, acquaintances, hostees – or even people I never knew before who come from the same corner of the web, the same “scene”. I’m still not the most interesting person to talk to, but I’d love to just be in touch. I long to be a part of something again.
